It wouldn't be the first time!  Even with the possibility of a troll, my first 
instinct is to provide the requested information rather than complain.  I still 
remember my first introduction to a linux mailing list (not this one) several years 
ago.  I asked what appeared to me to be a reasonable (but remarkably naive) question 
and got back a full frontal attack.
