IIRC, the OP said this doesn't work, because fsck.reiserfs doesn't do a 
full check/fix with the normal boottime options to fsck.

I know *why* this was done, but I think it's a poor decision by namesys.

In any case, the OP needs a root prompt with / mounted ro inorder to 
perform the check/fix.  (Either that, or I suppose he could edit the fsck 
command run at boot-time?)
