I was re=config'ing the 2.6.9 kernel _yet_ again. And saw the bit about vesafb-tng and vesafb. Just for the heck of it (and before running up another 5 flight of stairs (UP) I'm re-compiling it w/o any frambebuffer support.) Hope it's OK. Else it's another 5 up and 5 dn flight of stairs. > > video=vesafb:ypan,[EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Check Spocks website for info on it: > http://dev.gentoo.org/~spock/projects/vesafb-tng/ > > If you dont have the vesafb-tng patch how do you set your vga in grub? > > example: vga=791 > grub.conf: > kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.10-r4 root=/dev/hda3 vga=795 Hmm.. I didn't think much of this. Funny though since there was _another_ box in which gentoo was installed and I did no such vga passing to the kernel. For the record. I also tried noapic and nolapic. But once it finishes compilation _yet_ again, I'll try it out and see if the vga=xxx works.
