I've a couple of questions (as usual), all related. I'm trying to find
the best way to distribute a package to the greatest number of
distribtutions. RPM seems to be the best choice but will it work on
packages other than Red Hat and Mandrake? What exactly are TGZ files?
I thought they were just compressed archives. This would mean you could
install them anywhere but since there is no checking for dependencies
there is no assurance they would run. Are there any other formats? How
are RH, Turbo, Open and SuSE done? Debian? NetBSD and FreeBSD? I
would imagine that the two BSD's would be different so probably don't
really relate but thought I'd ask anyway.

TIA, GGK
