Xconfigurator is Red Hat specific (and debian does run levels
differently).  Actually, I've never gotten Xconfigurator to run right
on any HW I've installed X on, I always end up going to XF86Setup
(part of Xfree86 at that).  Debian's anXious (their equiv to
Xconfigurator?) messed it up as well, so I went back to XF86Setup.  I
also ran xvidtune afterwords, but straight X seems to be working OK.  

I'll check the .gnome-errors file tonight.
