Come on Floriano,

GROW UP!

Where were you when the 'Corporation of the City of Panaji Bill' was passed
in the Goa Legislative Assembly and the 'Panjim Municipal Council' passed
into history in 2003? In Wonderland? Wake up and smell the coffee. Do not
pass out and smell someone's shoe to revive!

Don't tell me you needed the 'Mhapsa Fest' to make you aware that the
Corporation of the City of Panaji was running the town that you still call
'Panjim'.

Check your history, too. The capital of Goa was Velha Goa or Cidade de Goa.
Pangim[ not Panjim] became a town only after the plague. The name 'Panjim'
has been around for a much shorter time than you imagine. Check out with
your favourite historian, the Central Library,Institute Menezes Braganza,
Fundacao Oriente or contact Prajal Sakhardande.

Look before you leap....there are pitfalls ahead. Just a few more alphabets
and you may be wallowing in muck ...from Su-raj to Suwar-Raj...but you will
still be the king in the raj!

Viva Goa..

Miguel

> Yes indeed. That plus the nomenclature 'Panaji' sure smells of the merger
with Maharashtra. Now that the merger is shelved forever and the
mergerist's wings are clipped , we shall strive to revert Panaji back to
Panjim. Hasn't it served us Goans for 450 years???
