       Yes, the people who have betrayed the most have been the left. The
left in India could have contributed in many ways, practically in fighting
caste, theoretically in contributing to an understanding of caste from a
Marxist perspective. But they did nothing, mainly because the left has
always been dominated by 'upper' castes. As Limbale says in his book
'Towards an aesthetic of Dalit literature' when talking about the left's
role in organising mill workers, all the interaction happened within the
mill compound. When they stepped outside, the caste workers went to their
homes and the Dalits to theirs. There was no interaction, socially or
culturally.

 Apparently, this is typical and the fore-runner of the later course
