Laser printer not inkjet is recommended for occasional hard-copies. Brother laser printers will work on both 32 and 64 bit. Brother also offer telephone support on both windows and linux.
Be aware that we had quite a lot of trouble with Brother's Postscript implementation - I think we (Ghostscript and CUPS via Ubuntu) resolved all the issues, but you never know....
