Hi Drew, I don't know precisely what causes this, but I have seen it happen when using a freshly made batch of the dye solution. Also, a very fine whitish precipitate often collects in the bottom of the bottle in which the dye solution is stored, requiring filtration every day before using the solution - but only when the solution is fresh. Once the solution is a couple of weeks old, both problems disappear. Wish I had a better explanation.
