Erin, Holding the can too close and/or spraying for a prolonged period both cause freeze artifact. Look at your block, it will not have a smooth look to the paraffin. it will have lines it much like a cracked piece of glass. the tissue will appear cracked on the waterbath and will even separate along these lines. The cracks can be seen microscopically amd interfere with the architecture of the tissue. Rena Fail
