Bouin's without the picric acid? "Bouin's fixative" without picric acid isn't Bouin's fixative, any more than a "chocolate cake" without the chocolate is a chocolate cake.
"Whatever our marketing department calls Bouin's fixative" is junk science. We see the same thing with bogus B-5 fixatives, and iodate hematoxylins labeled "Harris". You need some expert help with your need to change fixatives. I'd suggest asking John Kiernan - I'm pretty sure he's still on Histonet.
