After macro trimming into our blocks (very gently if friable or dry) we place them on an ice tray to soak for a good while. Each well is filled with a little bit of water - this rehydrates the tissue just enough to get a few good sections off the top. we¹ve had success with this method for most any tissue (the more dry the tissue, the longer the soak).
