One part that is different over the years is the bell. I have a personal fondness for the sound of the Alexanders (50s and early 60s, I believe, but I could be wrong) that have a "gussetted" bell. I believe (again, I could be wrong) the German term is "mit zwickel". They are easily identified as having a "Y" shaped bell seam. There's just something about those bells that I don't hear in any other bell, and I think the 103's with those bells are the best sounding 103's. Just my opinion. -- Regards, Dave Weiner Brass Arts Unlimited _______________________________________________ post: horn@music.memphis.edu unsubscribe or set options at http://music2.memphis.edu/mailman/options/horn/archive%40jab.org
