I've tried for months to get this to work: control my fan speed in Fedore Core 6 (kernel 2.6.20-1.2948) on my thinkpad x31.
The first clue I can think of to help, is that I don't have the /proc/acpi/ibm/fan and /proc/acpi/ibm/ecdump files. Where do I get them? I feel this the heart of the problem.
