<amusement> You are not alone. 3 years ago we did a TSO on a mainframe, including z/M. For three years they have hounded me - sending bogus invoices trying to get me to pay for z/VM support. (We paid for three years upfront in the cost of the machine.)

Now it is time to renew - and no-one at IBM seems to know what we need to buy to renew it. (*sigh*)

Thank God we have a good sales rep, who is stubborn enough to dig through this mess. Well, most of the time.

Hello Ron, Tom, and everyone else,

Yes I got the info and have passed it on. Now we are waiting on

the "Business Partner" to handle it.

Many "wondrous" and dramatic changes are occurring here.

Ronald Campbell of IBM responded to a similar question recently on
the VSE listserv. Here's a copy of that response:

According to IBM Licensing rules, if you have BOTH VM and VSE, you
will
ONLY pay for the higher of the 2. 5696-234 actually has 3 licenses,
one
for
VSE ONLY, one for VM ONLY and one for VM/VSE. If you have both VM and
VSE
then you should only be paying for one.
If you have an issue, please contact me OFF LINE so I can help....Ron
