<amusement> You are not alone. 3 years ago we did a TSO on a mainframe,
including z/M. For three years they have hounded me - sending bogus
invoices trying to get me to pay for z/VM support. (We paid for three years
upfront in the cost of the machine.)
Now it is time to renew - and no-one at IBM seems to know what we need to
buy to renew it. (*sigh*)
Thank God we have a good sales rep, who is stubborn enough to dig through
this mess. Well, most of the time.

According to IBM Licensing rules, if you have BOTH VM and VSE, you

ONLY pay for the higher of the 2. 5696-234 actually has 3 licenses,
one

VSE ONLY, one for VM ONLY and one for VM/VSE. If you have both VM and
VSE
then you should only be paying for one.
