Hum, you're message made me think of something. I wonder when OS/390 2.9 came out. Was it before the zSeries? I bet so. That probably means that the code which causes a hardware check when OS/390 2.10 or z/OS are IPL'ed on an IFL engine is not in OS/390 2.9.
