Is there any 'trick' to using it to view a file in the spool, specifically 
a prt file for another account?

I believe you can download the latest version of SHOW (and, yes, you 
really do need to have it handy....:-) from Fran Hensler's web site at:

http://zvm.sru.edu/~DOWNLOAD/
