Yes, Lionel, you are reading the doc correctly. VM does not have an SMF
facility (I wish it did). RACF being an good MVS program wants to log dat
a
to SMF, so the compromise is for the RACF server to create its own SMF
dataset. Later you can merge this data with your MVS data and run one rep
ort
on RACF activity. 

I wish more of the servers would create SMF data, RSCS, TCPIP, DIRMAINT, 
SFS
servers. All need a good centralized SMF data repository and a decent SMF

reporting tool.
