We have a very simple z/VM environment. Linux guests running WebSphere. No database's on the IFL. Our current backup process occurs on Sunday night. Stop VM, allocate Volumes to z/OS, do full volume backups, release Volumes, Start VM. We also back up the linux filesystems with Tivoli nightly. Currently the applications running on WebSphere have no 'up' requirement for Sunday evening.
Now Mgt wants to take a 'daily' sync point of the z/VM vols. Obviously doing the 'weekly' process is not an option. We do NOT have any tape drives dedicated to z/VM, nor are there any available that are capable of supporting daily use. What are other shops doing for daily snyc points? Any and All thoughts/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
