I don't recall this one, but it looks as though the configuration file wasn't written out by the installer to use Layer 2, so it's trying to bring it up as a Layer 3 NIC. Try re-starting the installation, and after the DASD are activated, SSH in a second time to look at the config files in the /etc/sysconfig/hardware/ and /etc/sysconfig/network/ directories to make sure things look right.
