Nah, that is still supported so if you do have problems, IBM will fix.
z stuff is very forward compatible, not like some other stuff :)

machines on dedicated disks, In the process of migrating a person of a foreign 
company mentioned that there are problems with dasd's dedicates in z/VM 6.1

This assertion does not convince me and so my question.

z/VM is pretty much always upward compatible, so dedicated DASD should work the 
same.

Can you explain what you are attempting to do, and what happens when you try 
which makes you ask?
