Here's some more info I was able to dig up: " This is a very common problem with the eMac, there was a problem with a batch of capacitors used in the mainboard, originally this problem was restricted to the 1.25GHZ eMac, however as they age it appears to be affecting other models, if you are good at soldering then it is possible to replace them, (I did my eMac That had the same symptoms, but I am an electronics engineer. It is still going strong over a year later.) the capacitors you need are 1800uf 6.3V LOW ESR and it is advisable to replace all 8 of them as you DON'T want to do the job a second time 6 months later.
