Well any old wifi router will do, but given your friends geometry, I wonder if there's a way to run an ethernet cable over to the old section of the house? DSL In ----->Existing Wifi=======ethernet========New Wifi It's a wee bit more complicated since you need to configure the second Wifi as a network extender, but that is pretty easy with most any model. Besides, if you're extending it via WiFi it'll also need special configuration anyway. Has your friend considered a simpler solution, like putting on an extended range antenna, or putting the DSL router in a more central location, up near the ceiling?
