Richard, this really doesn't address Iljitsch's objection. Existing DHCP clients DO NOT support this authentication method. From 20k feet it may look like it's supported because the box was already doing it with PPPoE, but down on the bare metal of the client's box, no such functionality exists. Replacing existing DHCP clients is a Very Hard Problem. You need to explain how you're going to solve this problem, or else the rest of this discussion is academic.
