Earl,
Doesn't the DC power to the Wellbrook loop run out on the coax that
sends the signal back to the radio? (i.e. no extra line needed for power)
best wishes,
Nick

Ira,
You certainly can't use it for transmitting, and they are a bit
pricey, but seriously, the lowest noise antenna I have ever used for
general BCB/Shortwave listening and DX is a Wellbrook Loop (1530, in my case).
They are broadband, so you don't need to retune every time you
change frequency. That lets you place it outside, although you will
have to get electricity to it (it comes with a special low noise
amplifier). It also doesn't need to be placed up high, so no trees
to worry about.
I'm not affiliated in any way with the company, I just live in a
noisy urban environment and couldn't DX without one!
Sincerely,
Earl Higgins
