Joseph K. Bradley commented on SPARK-14479: ------------------------------------------- +[~dbtsai] I'm ambivalent here. I'd assume new users would gravitate towards Linear/LogisticRegression, and more expert people would go for GeneralizedLinearRegression. If I had to choose, I would say "prediction" should correspond to "response" as [~yanboliang] suggests. To be very clear in the API, we could also have 2 output columns "link" and "response" and not even use "prediction" > GLM predict type should be link or response? > -------------------------------------------- > > Key: SPARK-14479 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-14479 > Project: Spark > Issue Type: Question > Components: ML, SparkR > Reporter: Yanbo Liang > > In R glm and glmnet, the default type of predict is "link" which is the > linear predictor, users can specify "type = response" to output response > prediction. Currently the ML glm predict will output "response" prediction by > default, I think it's more reasonable. Should we change the default type of > ML glm predict output? > R glm: > https://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/stats/html/predict.glm.html > R glmnet: http://www.inside-r.org/packages/cran/glmnet/docs/predict.glmnet > Meanwhile, we should decide the default type of glm predict output in SparkR. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: issues-unsubscr...@spark.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: issues-h...@spark.apache.org
