@cray fellow on using JGit vs CLI git : using an external process introduce some major issues : file leaks, uncontrolled processes, fragile console output parsing, etc. both subversion and cvs plugin has been redesigned to use a pure java implementation to handle SCM protocol. JGit is used by EGit and few Git repository hosting application, so I guess it's stable enough to cover git-plugin needs.
