I've also downloaded hpi files for Git Client 1.6.0 and 1.4.5. Uninstalled 1.6.3 first, restarted Jenkins, uploaded 1.6.0 in the advanced tab in plugin management, restarted again but that gives me the exact same error in the job config page. Version 1.4.5 I can't install because when uploading it Jenkins fails with the message that the plugin can't be dynamically deployed, not sure what that means. I've also tried 1.6.3 and 1.6.0 with Git plugin 2.0.0 instead of 2.0.3 to no avail, keep getting the same error.
Also like to note that we had Jenkins 1.538 before and when the git client plugin didn't work in that version we upgraded to the latest version using apt-get. The only thing left is to completely reinstall Jenkins from scratch but I'm not thrilled about setting the whole thing up again on the off chance that the plugin might work.
