There are currently no plans to render hbonds as solid cylinders.

This works as designed. The rendering style is not the same as
RasMol/Chime ... I hope it is better.
I tried
set display selected
with the applet and jmol.sh but neither works
jmol.sh tells me: ScriptException:boolean expected, ok, I tried
set display true
and this works with both, but I expected the toggle selected/normal
