I can confirm your worry about the RE-850. We had one box with a full Internet table (~310K prefixes) *and* a reasonable number of L3VPNs with a total of ~160K prefixes, *and* a high number of interfaces. This box needed enough RE memory that we started seeing swap usage. Not good. Now the box has a reduced Internet table, and is happy.
