Bug ID: 520886
Summary: Taskbar intercepting window switching via meta +
L/R-Arrow
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.6.5
Reported In:
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: activities
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
Related Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts
Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Window Management > Switch to Window (Left or
Right)
META + ALT + (Left Arrow or Right Arrow)
Involved windows:
System-included: Firefox
Flatpak-installed: Obsidian
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Activate Firefox > Meta + left-arrow to move the window to the left side
2. Activate Obsidian > enter a vault > Meta + right-arrow to move the window to
the right side
3. Meta + Right or Left arrow to attempt to switch between the two windows
EXPECTED RESULT
- I should freely switch between the firefox and obsidian with a single
keypress
OBSERVED RESULT
- Instead, the task-bar will be activated before either window in either
direction.
- Sometimes it will take more than one attempt to switch from the window or
from the task-bar to the other window
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Fedora 44
Kernel: 7.0.10-201.fc44.x86_64
KDE Plasma Version: KDE Plasma 6.6.5 Wayland
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.26.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Attempted reboot and update with no change.
Temporary workaround: Placing both windows in fullscreen on separate monitors
bypasses the task-bar interrupting my window switching, but I don't always have
space available to setup a second monitor.
I could alt-tab but it's not as efficient as simply switching left/right.
Thanks for your help!
