My plasma-desktop crashes on a regular basis, fortunately the window manager is still running so running plasma-desktop >&/dev/null& from one of the graphics consoles fixes that. Restarting kded should work similarly. Try using a graphics console instead of a text console whenever possible for this kind of thing, it also reconnects things like dbus-daemon again.
