RATE :Good on all these 3 Requirements MetaSolv Data Migration SME 3 different positions – Different levels In East Coast Can Work from Remote but available to travel to client site as required. 6mns + The Client is converting their data over to the new Version M6. This Consultant will be responsible for migrating the data from the old legacy IT platform to the new MetaSolv M6 version, mapping of fields, etc. -Telecom experience (for understanding the data being migrated) -This is a Technical job; Extract, Transform and Load (ETL). The client will accept different levels of skill sets for the migration initiative:-. 1. For a standard migration resource, the client would need the following: -Telecom experience (for understanding the data being migrated) - MetaSolv -MSS data model expertise -PL/SQL skills – all stage coding is done in PL/SQL -Broad background in database applications – it is useful to understand the various formats that are found in the legacy sources. While we do pull everything into Oracle MSS typically for writing stage code, the expertise to understand other database structures/ formats is useful while mapping the sources -Consulting skills help to bridge the gap between the “technical” data source experts and the “business” application users. 2. In order for someone to work in the Cycle Master role for a migration, which is actually running the full set of scripts and pulling the BAR reports: -All skills from the standard migration resource ( above) -UNIX/Linux skill – the migration toolset is typically run from a UNIX or Linux based system -DBA skills – import/export, database maintenance (setting sizes and extents, creating/modifying objects, etc) and troubleshooting performance issues -Java skill is optional – there are versions of the scripts created to run in a Java environment, but they really don’t need any changes. So it’s not a requirement. -Excel skills – “a flair for building executive statistical reports”. The tool will generate BAR results, but these are generally extracted to Excel formats for usability. 3. As for a tool developer: - -Migration resource skills ( Above # 1) -Skilled in the GUI and database of Oracle MSS -Ability to communicate with the application and migration users -Experience in “reverse engineering” database applications – there isn’t much documentation about how our app works aside from the data model, so the entire tool is based on reverse engineering and testing the results in the GUI. The tool developer must be innovative and obsessive about uncovering ALL integrity rules, otherwise they can produce tools which appear to migrate the data, but in fact they’re just creating data gaps that will cause future grief. -Java skills are again optional, but useful – there are cycle management scripts that allow the tool to run on UNIX, Linux, NT, Java and straight SQL platforms. These don’t normally require changes, but larger updates to the tool may require these to be updated/maintained.
