I know how you feel. Hobbycraft are OK if you want to start a new craft - they've got a wide range of things. But it's no good if you want much beyond beginner's level stuff. I go there for embroidery threads, particularly Kreinik metal threads that aren't easy to get, and I've been able to get some other bits and pieces there that I wouldn't have found on the high street. I hate the way the small needlework shops have been going out of business in recent years - there were 3 in central London that I used to frequent and they've all gone. And does anyone remember "The Needlewoman", that used to be in Regent St about 30 years ago? I never went there, but heard about it.
