The Bosch looks like my 1614 but a newer version. I got mine several years
ago.

Hi Bill

The smallest one I have is the Bosch 1604. It is a plunge router where the
base is removable. The diameter of the body is 3 1/2 " and it comes with
both 1/4 and 1/2 " collets.

Hi Bill

Do you need a full range of 1/4" router bits to do the inside of a bowl?

Yes I have. a screw on adaptor like a muscle chuck would be the go but I
have never seen one of those
I did think of a spindle grinder but same problem ¼ inch drive and also
too low of rpms
So it brings me back to looking for a small dia fixed base 1/2inch router
And obviously I need the ½ inch drive to fit all the various magnate bits

A range of legacy bits with ¼ shafts would solve the problem too but they
don’t do that either
But with fixed base routers being so popular in the US I thought there
might be a small ½ inch one out there some where

I'm no help, I've only seen 1/4 on laminate trimmers and I've never seen
an adapter that goes from 1/4 to 1/2. The next question would be could
you bore a laminate trimmer to fit a 1/2 bit. The next thought would be a
grinder that might take a 1/2 bit. I'm guessing you have thought of all of
this.

Good Luck,

Ok guys I have a question what is the smallest fixed base or laminate
router you have seen that takes ½ inch bits I’m looking for a thin router so I
can get into a bowl on the router table I will make a mount to mount it to
the saddle of our mills. So any ideas or places on line i can look at
please pass it on to me
