I tried it ... I made a copy of the file on my
laptop, made a change there, and then made sure that
the folder the file was in was shared and allowed
others on my network to make changes to whatever
files were in that folder.

Then I came to my desktop and loaded the file on the
laptop, read the change I had made, and then
successfully made a change to my laptop file.

This is a great idea, and the only slow thing that I
found was that my laptop is wireless, so the
connection was a bit slow. And for anyone who does
this, be sure to BACK IT UP - BACK IT UP - BACK IT UP
- your data file. I would never skip the request to
back up your file that Legacy makes when you exit the
program. Also, if I do it, I shall make sure that my
laptop has a wired connection rather than a wireless
connection.

file

I would think it would work ... as long as only one
person was trying to access the file at a time.
And make sure the folders and files on your laptop
are properly shared for access from your desktop.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Sharing the Legacy database file

Listers:

Has anyone had any experience in the following idea.
I have a
wireless network in my home. Would there be any
problems if I
"shared" my Legacy database on my so that I always am
working with
one file. The shared folder would be on a laptop.
Then if I take my
laptop to the library and made changes, when I open
the file with my
desktop, I'm looking at the same file. No syncing or
copying files
would be required. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Gene
