The Marxist journal (from Britain) *Historical Materialism* , no. 8, has a short but succinct article by Dic Lo on the political economy of economic restructuring in post Asian Financial Crisis China. .It reads quite differently from the narrative in the article forwarded by Charles, but I think it offers a pretty careful analysis of the present situation in China.
