I think I figured out my original problem which is
that I was using Motif2.1 when I should have been
using Motif1.2.

My next problem though is the color map doesn't seem
to be working correctly.  I am getting errors which
state "Cannot allocate colormap entry, some colors may
be incorrect".  I receive this error when I am in 8
bit color mode.  If I change color mode to 24 bit or
32 bit, the app complains about not finding 8 bit
color.  Is there any suggestions on this problem
