--- Comment #16 from Eyal Rozenberg <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Tex2002ans from comment #15) > Strong −1. > > Agree with Comment 4 and Comment 5 (and the maintainability problems below). As already explained, it does not need to replace the first-start dialog. > This kind of thing much better dedicated towards video tutorials. A video is passive, not interactive. Also, people can always make videos about LibreOffice, so that possibility does not preclude a tutorial. Also you said you agreed with comment 4 about the need for this to be customizable. A video is even less customizable. > > Like the fantastic "Beginner"/"Basics" videos for Word/Excel/Microsoft > Office by: > > - Kevin Stratvert > - Leila Gharani Which you will not find within MS Office apps. > If the user wants or needs that, they can hunt it down themselves. Ah, no, that's exactly it. Expending non-technical newbie users to hunt down things themselves is a non-starter. They will not. If anything, not starting the tutorial by default is already a weak argument against having this at all. But if it's on the Help menu, that's something at least. > But to shove this in the face of all users That's not what's proposed. > (and trying to MAINTAIN such a > thing with Normal/Tabbed/variant UIs + across languages/OSes), no. Maintenance is indeed a challenge here. However - it should be implemented in such a way that: * there is no per-OS version. * no frequent changes are necessary (e.g. renders as overlay over the UI rather) * only two UI variants at most are catered two: Normal and Tabbed (and maybe start just with one of them) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
