As already explained, it does not need to replace the first-start dialog.

A video is passive, not interactive. Also, people can always make videos about
LibreOffice, so that possibility does not preclude a tutorial.

Also you said you agreed with comment 4 about the need for this to be
customizable. A video is even less customizable.

Which you will not find within MS Office apps.

Ah, no, that's exactly it. Expending non-technical newbie users to hunt down
things themselves is a non-starter. They will not. If anything, not starting
the tutorial by default is already a weak argument against having this at all.
But if it's on the Help menu, that's something at least.

That's not what's proposed.

Maintenance is indeed a challenge here. However - it should be implemented in
such a way that:

* there is no per-OS version.
* no frequent changes are necessary (e.g. renders as overlay over the UI
rather)
* only two UI variants at most are catered two: Normal and Tabbed (and maybe
start just with one of them)
