The problem with POM is that you have to keep all fields to be printed in castlib 1 - 
Internal, or the field font is replaced by a default font, I think Arial.
This is confirmed from the horse's mouth and claimed to be a Director bug.
I would also keep the font cast member in an internal castlib. I had some bad 
experience with external fonts when D7.0 came out, and have been paranoid about 
embedded fonts ever since.
The embedded font and POM issues may very well be related.
