the buddy api xtra by Gary Smith supplies several hundred ways to access 
functions of the OS's Api(s), stuff like reading/writing registry keys, 
version info (Windows, NT, DOS, QuickTime, VFW), location of system 
folders, path to program associated to filetype .xyz, etc.

Quite useful, t h e  xtra.

If you don't use more than 2 different functions you can even use it for 
free, on the other hand, if you purchase the full license you won't regret 
it a single moment.
