The more discussion I see, the more I tend to agree. There are Lingo
features that would be difficult or impossible to compile, especially "do".
However...

I couldn't agree more!
I'm a realist. A lot of developers don't need a compiler. Score-based apps
wouldn't benefit much. Shockwave probably would be out because of security
concerns. Even some lingo-heavy apps run just fine as is--sometimes "good
enough" is good enough.
But, for some of us--Macromedia, you're killin' us! We're in major pain
without at least a partial compiler option. I'd just love to be able to
tell my boss/customer, "Yeah, we can get about 85% of C++ performance now
in Director."
