I don't know the real meaning of all this but there is a cool site that I use to generate those mode lines. http://www.dkfz-heidelberg.de/spec/linux/modeline/ go there and enter in the res and dot clock freq you want to use (you can get this info when and if your modeline fails and you end up looking at the kernel messages) then try the other one.
