Hmm... It's some time since I did my setup, but I don't remember having

The only one I got is:
        XkbLayout       = dk

With this setup I get danish characters  in X on both a small portable and on 
some old standart machines.

In runlevel 3 I don't get Danish keyboard, but we never use that anyway.

Does your keyboard map correctly if you log on to the server?
