Sorry I sent this to you directly, Andy. That was a goof.
--- Begin Message --- Is it possible to use ATheros wi-fi cards at 108mbps with Linux/ LTSP ?
Someone recently mentioned Atheros here as a good choice, since they contribute Linux support for their products, or at least made it easier for oss developers to do so, so I went and checked them out. Their "Super G" products claim 54mbps standard, 108 in a duplex mode. That kinda sounds like it would overcome some drawbacks of wireless in a thinclient/terminalserve network, at least for a smaller network. Unless those cards don't really go that fast, or can't do duplex speed in Linux. Can anybody enlighten this rube? (also does that require an access point?)
thanks.

do-able?

Previous correspondence on the list suggests this is possible, if a little slow.

However, you should arrange that the boot phase comes from your local
hard disk - probably the entire /opt/ltsp/i386 tree, plus the kernel,
should be served from your hard drive.

At least the kernel, anyway - seems tftpboot is painfully slow.
