I can't speak for the LTSP or Slackware developers, but as someone already pointed out, you've selected the hard road already by choosing Slackware.

Its reputation is for stability, not ease of use. Try SUSE, Debian, Fedora or Mandrake for (comparative) ease of use.

Or save yourself some trouble and go all the way, get K12LTSP, everything ready out of the box (http://k12ltsp.org/contents.html).

Only trouble I've seen with it (4.2) so far was setting the client keyboards to Swedish and FireFox having odd printing habits, but that might have been the print servers fault.
