You may be better off using dosbox instead. see 
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net 
I've seen programs run in this that don't or won't run under dos 6.22!
        I don't think it has this busy idle problem either. If that link fails 
try 
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox/ instead.
