The strange thing is it's not just zeros, it contains an underscore (see
previous post) that was really puzzling me. I presume that it must be a
driver/kernel thing as the "bios" does report the correct mac.
Suggesting its not a hardware fault. Am I right to think this?

I have a little information about them, but I'm trying to contact
someone about chipset differences between the board revisions, but I am
waiting for a reply.... I suspect I'll be waiting a looooong time.

I tracked the board as being made by HP for Wyse. It is also linked to a
company called "3Prime Solutions" but I am unsure how they fit in, I
believe they are based in Derby UK. They did respond quickly at first
but the trail seams to have gone cold.

The network chips on the boards are very similar, the only difference
being revision numbers, but as there are both types of chip revisions on
both types of system-board it must be something else. You think?
