Just to clarify: You currently have a Terminal Server. In the past you were using only Windows Desktops to connect to that TS. You connected to the same TS to run applications on the TS from a Linux box.
Now, they suggest running a separate new Oracle Server (this is just a guess on the division), and new Terminal Server. However you'd like to eliminate the Terminal Server. If the user interface won't run on a Linux Server, then unfortunately, LTSP cannot help you remove the Terminal Server, since that's where the UI lives. If you keep your Terminal Server, but want to reduce the configuration cost of the stations that access the TS, LTSP could help. Help clarify what you mean by application. Is part of it Web-Based? Do you have a Fat Client Win32 user interface? Does most of it run on the Oracle Server? My understanding of your scenario may be off, but if it is a Fat32 client that's running on the TS, and that won't run on Linux, then your TS isn't going away. Here is what I need. I have two Windows/Oracle applications running on a Windows machine, with Terminal Services. It is time to upgrade the hardware/software and the Software company suggests running the applications on one machine, and have a separate machine running Windows TS. I would like to eliminate the Windows TS and use a Linux product. I have replaced several Windows PCs with Linux, using RDP, and it works fine. I need advise/assistance on how to setup the Linux to eliminate the Windows TS, if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Keep in mind, the application I am running on the server will not work on Linux.
