Yes, you can.
Chroot & instal openssh-server (or package in your distro).

If you have:
* good root pass
* NOT allowed root-ssh
* no data on thin client HDDs (if any)
* UR or have man, who knows what is he doing ...

I think its very secure to enable SSHD on them.
